Fado is in Zé Maria's blood. Melodious and well-timbred, simultaneously current and evocative of a tradition. Versatile and true to the truth of the words he sings. He was born in 1988, in a family where the presence of Fado and the Arts marked him strongly and laid the foundations of his path. He began at an early age to attend and sing in some Fado houses, such as Casa da Mariquinhas and Mesa de Frades, while consolidating his musical and vocal training. In 2017, he began to sing regularly in Fado houses and events, performing in houses such as Mesa de Frades, Clube de Fado, Senhor Vinho, Parreirinha de Alfama, or Fado ao Carmo, and in Real Fado concerts. He participated in the Caixa Alfama, Santa Casa Alfama and Montepio Fado Cascais Festivals. In 2021, he joins the cast of Clube de Fado. In 2022, he releases his debut album – “Zé Maria” - with the quality seal of the Museu do Fado Discos, presented in the Há Fado no Cais cycle, at the Belém Cultural Center.
